Through grace and love, dependence and unity, Christ transforms his people into his body. Which of course has his stature. What’s so preposterous about that? Put that way, it seems quite possible. Maybe the reason we’re such spiritual midgets is that we don’t even try to live as a body. It’s as if we forgot to read the directions.7 At least it’s odd how rarely we even try to live as a united body, with our dependence on Jesus and each other growing till together we reach his stature.
